Hello! New to the forum, Has anyone had a problem with their car NOT starting unless they use the car's keychain clicker? I am thinking it's a security system issue. Once I get into the car and it doesn't start right up, If I use the keychain clicker to unlock and lock the car while i'm in it, then it usually will start, but sometimes it takes SEVERAL clicks to get it to work. I checked the Battery and that was fine, so my guess is it has something to do with the Security system. ANy Insight would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in Advance!!~Kristen

Welcome to the forum. I'll bump this back to the top so it will get the attention it deserves. It seems to be a little slow today, but I'm sure it will pick up a little later today.

Sounds like an alarm issue to me too. Maybe one of the techs will be along and help with your issue. Again, welcome.

When you say you checked the battery, how did you check it? Even if you used a digital voltmeter to measure the voltage, I would still replace the battery as a first step.

I had an intermittant problem with my remote and after I replaced the battery I had no more problem.

I checked the Battery at Auto Zone. I have an appointment with Infiniti on Monday, and you know how Murphy's Law goes, I haven't had an issue with it since yesterday-although it happens all the time. Thanks for the Replys!!

On the back of my remote it specifies use battery CR 2026If you have a radio shack near you take the remote with you and they'll even put the new battery in for you. Might save you a trip to the dealer that may very well charge more for the battery unless you are under warranty. Perhaps it might be a freebe but who knows? Very often a marginal battery will cause the remote not to operate when the temperature drops?

Good luck

Thanks for the tip, I meant to say I checked the Engine Battery--Not the Battery in the remote, but that is probably a good idea to change that one too. Thanks!

This happened to me once (3 days after I bought the car). Infiniti looked at it, couldn't duplicate the error, and it hasn't come back to haunt me yet (knock on wood). There's a little bit about it in the owner's manual, too. I think it says that sometimes other wireless things can interfere with the security encryption signal on the keychain.

I assumed you were having a problem with the remote. Since your vehicle is an 04, if both the engine battery and the battery in the remote have not been changed, my advice is to replace both. You certainly don't want to get stuck on some dark and stormy night.
