What warranty would it void? The only time your warranty is voided is if they can prove that whatever mod you did was the cause of the damage. If you installed an aftermarket alarm, it wouldn't void anything.

I thought warranty was very fishy...

If you splice wires, and something goes wrong, its not covered..

You can add on, but its gotta be removed for warranty i believe

Just got back my coupe from the shop that installed a Viper 5900 security system. I have to go back tomorow because they messed up the wirering, my A/C button turns off my sound system. Thats messed up. Also they told my that i cant drive my car after i remote start it, I have to turn it off with the remote starter and turn it back on with the push button starter. Anyone know why is that?

I think i should have went with the dealer installing the security system, but then again they wanted loads of green for the alarm system.

That is total......

i work at a Stereo shop, so I get people with new cars all the time coming in asking that question. The question is stupid really. We do work for dealerships occaionally (install alarms, radios) so I doubt they would sell NEW cars off the lot with aftermarket equipment and the warranty is already out the door because the work was not don by them!!

But no they like to say this so they can get you to SPEND MORE It's a LIE!!! CRap really! Dont believe it...... Just make sure you dont try to find the cheapest shop, there cheap for a reason!!!! Try to find a shop with the BBB, or just research.

Hope that helped! Dirty Salesmen can say lots of

Anytime you install a aftermarket alarm on a car that is new to the market you are taking things into your own hands. Sometimes is does make sense to go with factory options. In this case you know you want it done right because of the push button start - or at least be informed of what the limitations may be ( this may be hard because your aftermarket installer may never have dealt with an AC Coupe before). Did the 07 sedan have the push button start as well?

Get your AC button fixed and after that you may have to live with restarting your car after an remote autostart.

For those that haven't purchased yet, try to negotiate the factory alarm in with the out the door price of the car. Especially if you can't get any other discount or are paying market adjustments.

Also be carefull of overpriced dealer tack ons- I saw a set of rims/tires on one Blue AZ coupe that were listed at $4,000 - and I know that set-up could not have been $2,500 at the most.

Maybe in your example the install is not considered to be aftermarket. You are doing contracted work which will likely be listed as Dealer Installed Accesories on the sticker.

Yeah the 2007 altima comes with a push button, this shop installed security systems on my sisters (subaru) and my bother in law (ford) suv's and they did not have any problems. I must just have bad luck.

That makes sense. But I doubt they give us any credit for it. They probably tell them they did the work unless something bad goes wrong and they dont know what to do, like a dead battery in a alarm remote! haha.

I guess I just dont get the difference from a dealer installing the same after market alarm to a shop installing it?

I have yet to hear of any dealer installing their own remote starters or alarm systems. The dealers I've dealt with and know around here just aren't equipped for it, nor do they have the properly trained techs. You bring your car in to them, and they drive it out 10 minutes later to a specialty shop down the street.....and then charge you twice what it's worth.Same with rustproofing, window tinting and other aftermarket stuff. They farm it out, and then take a huge cut.As for your problems with your Coupe, I suspect it has something to do with the fact that it is so new and no-one has any experience with it.And I also agree with others in this thread. It shouldn't void your warranty. It's just more grandstanding by the dealer.Good luck.

I'm not messing with any alarms. Why don't you just get LoJack installed?
