Hey guys, I've posted a lot about my z before, but I have a question. Saturday, we had some really cold weather and neither doors wouldn't open easily, both keyholes were frozen, too. I finally got my passenger door open after a couple of tugs. Then I got my driver door open with some help.

Anyway, my security light is on all the time now. I checked the passenger door first and it looks like it could be the door jam switch. I turn the key to the left at a certain angle and the light goes off, even with the door open. The driver's door is ok because I hear the door switch when I close it.

Are there any diagrams of the door panel that anyone has so I can fix it up? I think it might have gotten messed up when I opened the door. Another option I have is to disable the security light. The car starts perfectly and the security light goes off once I turn the key.

Thanks guys.

From my personal experience a part of your keyhole broke ( for me its was a small plastic clip) and the alarm doesn't not engage anymore because its not detecting the lock being in the lock position. So the light remains on. By the way when i wanted to repair this i checked at the dealer if i could just by the small clip and i couldn't, they just sell the entire door lock/handle mechanism for 200 bucks.

Awesome. Thank you for your help. This makes sense because I turned the key and kept it to the left and the light would be off, even when the door was closed.I might be in the process of selling my z to someone, though. As much as me and my bf love the vehicle, I'm still in college let alone a university.

Maybe all that would have to be done then is to take the door panel off and take a look at the door? The light goes off, just the key has to be turned at a certain angle.

I remember there was a do it yourself guide on fixing the keyhole/lock mechanism on another site. At the end though unless you rely on the stock alarm system to protect the car from theft then i guess it matters. Other than that the light being on will not affect the car in any way. Sometimes its better someone that might try to steal your car might see the light blinking and not know any better and might think twice before trying to steal it.

It doesn't eat that much battery, right? I didn't notice any difference in starting the car up after two days of not knowing it was on, and drove it around yesterday for about 40 miles and it started fine today.
