I'm not sure I follow what you're saying. By security light, do you mean the dome light that comes on when you close the door?

Dead battery, bad battery cables or grounding, blown fuse would all be good places to start.

There is the security disabler and (For Automatics) transmission position sensor. Must be in park or neutral. That will also prevent cranking.

i second the dead battery. if the battery isnt dead try it in nuetral, could be the safety switch like Autoquick said. i have to start in nuetral regularly.
