After being removed/installed every 90 days or less for oil changes over the last 11 years, the bolt holes are finally stripped and no longer allowing the bolts to snug up {must every tech uses air-powered screwdrivers to remove/install every little bolt/screw? } any ideas on how to permanently solve this? I have had a tech use a die/tap before, but alas the holes seem to enlarged for that to be effective again! I was thinking about gluing small button magnets to the sheild and forgetting the bolts altogether,or maybe using pins similar to ones used on weight stacks at the gym...any ideas or fixes out there?

Mine has a few strategically placed self tapping screws.. That seems to be best, i hat ethose 10mm bolts with a passion. Ive had enough break off that I had to take it off and figure out something in the time being.

Have you considered replacing the original bolts with nylon equivalents? They may still strip out, but at least they won't strip the mating threads on the chassis...

I've been told that I will probably go to hell for this but...I've been driving my Q without one for the last 8 months.

Someone will now tell you why I suck and it's likely that the Q will overheat if you do this. But, since I am never in city type stand-still traffic... I don't have any issues with overheating. The car is never running while parked in once place for more than a couple of minutes.

Thank god I stopped changing my own oil. The novelty wore off when I got tired of buying kitty litter.

Nice thing about removing the underbelly cover is that its quicker and easier to get in there and check/replace belts and pulleys.

My car didn't have one when I bought it and I couldn't find a used one anywhere. I ended up buying one from the dealer at a price of $287.55 (tax included) along with the screws. I was not happy about this purchase.

Part Numbers:

75890-60U00 Cover ----- $235.8201436-01381 Screws ---- $1.14 x 1163848-01G00 Some other part that says 15g--- $1.68

*** Price is in Canadian Dollars

I don't think it's as much overheating as it is to protect from a stone or debrise from kicking up. Since I relocated my filter it has been bliss! I only remove mine for service like alt. or belts etc.

oil relocator kit you can buy anywhere. $50-$75high pressure CAT lines. $75-$100

Install relocator kit where filter goes, run lines to underhood, install filter. I put mine where my stock airbox was. I have seen it on the other side where battery is. Do not use rubber lines and hose clamps! I had the lines made at a truck hose shop. They are rated at 1500 psi! Also I run a canton racing filter, 8 microns.

I took mine off 3 months ago and haven't had a problem. I do plan on putting on some kind of shield one day

Also... by having it the airflow from the bottom airdam is precisly where the engineers wanted it to flow (on top of the shield, under the engine cooling it and drawing hotter air down and out through the back end. Without the shield you are interupting that flow and in my opinion taking a year or two off your engine life, not to mention all the water and grit your alternator, ac, pulleys, bearing and belts will collect and have to deal with.
