secondary power outlet

I generally have my radar plugged in all the time but the M35x only has one power outlet accessible in the ash tray. I really dont want to have it powered by the outlet in the ashtray and was thinking about installing a second power supply on the passenger side somewhere. Anyone ever attempted something like this and can share the details?

If you get a smart cord or invisicord you can plug it into the back of your rear view mirror.
