I did some searching on this and pulled up a couple indefinitive threads ( zerothread?id=138059 for instance). Ryan, did you ever get around to testing the effects of closed vs. open on a dyno? Adjust them to open via the SDS? Scrap the project ??? I'm thinking I'll probably remove them but if there's evidence of a real gain by keeping them I will. If I do remove them, what's the best method?? Can I remove the plates only and leave the shaft (cheap/easy)? If I remove the shaft do I need to plug all the holes or only on the ends? Thanks guys!

Bro, I left mine in and the car screams like it has no discipline. They are not in the way, just don't put any vacuum on them.

since you have it apart might as well pull them out and weld/plug the holes

I know more about this.

On the dyno recently, the tuner couldn't improve on the factory opening RPM of 4000rpm. I configured my power valve to open on my Autronic SMC as the factory manual describes. With them permanently open, this put a big dent in the torque curve.

Use them if you can.

If you are a dyno-queen..then driveability and torque probably don't mean much.
