the tube that comes off the exhaust manifold

well my brother (who is helping me fix up the car) decided to hack it off and put some pretty blue tubing instead, not thinking of how hot it gets right there . we half assed it pretty well and now after getting the car back from his place (where i stored it for the winter), it melted away. and is now poluting and is incredibly anoying.

does anyone have a fix for this? what did you do?

i had a hotshot header ordered from enjuku more than a month ago (they couldn't tell me where it was or why it was taking so long), so it switched it to the kyb struts and tein springs (something they had in stock).

but i really need to know if any of you have the secondary tube in tact (egr tube), what did you do to replace it, if by some chance you hacked it in half.the car runs okay, but is incredibly loud, and also producing superflous (uncalled for) amount of emissions.

i imagine besides polluting a little more that blocking it off would also cause the car to run rich.

i know that is what most do, but does anyone know of any side effects from blocking it off?

Won't run rich...the EGR is for reducing NOX emissions, has nothing to do with A/F.

Side effect is a CEL, which can be eliminated by using a resistor in place of the EGR temps sensor.

go to the dealer spend the $35 or whatever it was and get a new one. i had to do the same.

i thought it would cause the exhaust isn't being sent back to be reburned. so there is still more fuel being added, but what code is from the CEL?
