I have a 1991 300zx 2+2 NA and the secondary air tube that runs into the exhaust is leaking. I am wandering if I take that air tube out from my exhaust will it hurt the running order of the car?

replies would be great because if i can pull it i will cut the section out and put in a pipe there for now so it doesn't sound as bad.

Are you talking about the AIVs? This is one of the most common deletes. They stopped putting them on later models because the systems all would fail within a few years.

im not sure if it is leaking right at the pipe or not but it is somewhere in that area. so I'm going to cut a good section out and put in a new piece of exhaust pipe.

That's the cleanest way to do it. If you can get the tubes unscrewed though, you can plug it. Even if you can't, you can cut the tubes, tap them, and plug them that way.

But if you have holes in the exhaust, I'd go ahead and fit a new section.

I didn't have to do mine, but a friend ended up getting his AIV tubes off with several days of applying PB Blaster, and then getting one of those silly large crescent wrenches from Harbor Freight.
