The Aliens game looks like a DX20 title but seriously F'in bad.

After watching it again. I think I meant to say that it looks like a DX10 title AND that it looks like a very bad game.

Yup...looks awful. Why is it that with all of the current or former military gamers developers still have a hard time getting dialogue right. Everything sounds campy and over the top or just way off target. And the characters all seem one dimensional and uninteresting. Of all the sci-fi shooters out there it seems like Gears has always been closest to what I remember as far as inner-squad banter, bitchin' and complainin'.

To be honest this looks bad enough that it should be a movie tie-in game. I can't believe it looks like this and it was officially announced back in '08 (and made the cover of Game Informer) and said to be in development as early as late '06, I'll reserve judgement until I play it, but I anticipate facehuggers in the bargain bin (and perhaps a some economic downsizing at Gearbox).

Id needs to be paying attention to this and not screw up Doom 4 when they finally get around to releasing it. An A-list title that's crap is bad enough, if it's been in development as long as Aliens or Doom 4 (Carmack announced it back in '08) it's inexcusable.

Yeah so I looked a bit more into it and I think it will be better than expected. The game is designed from the ground up for Co-op. Not like the terrible Co-op you see in most single player games that get shoehorned in (looking at you Farcry 3). But if anyone can nail a co-op experience it's Gearbox; I haven't played BL1 co-op but BL2 co-op is great. So although the game doesn't look great, the game might play great.

Just my thoughts

Damn. The sh*t storm this game has been through is historical. I haven't ever seen this much bad press; Gearbox needs to get their stuff together.

There's a lot of talk that Gearbox isn't really responsible for the game as a whole, and that they picked up the project from TimeGate studios and weren't really given the time or resources to fix it. So they polished the little turd as much as they could and released it according to the publisher's schedule.

I'm more inclined to believe this with Gearbox than I might be with other devs, simply because of Gearbox's track record (which is phenomenal).
