This is my second question.. remember im new to my Q45 well i dont know when the last time the previous owner changed the timing belt but my 90 Q45 has over 120xxx miles so is it time to change it

She has no timing belt.

The timing is chain driven.

Have the chain guides been done?

If not or you don't know, its time to park her and do some reading before you end up buying a motor. http://www.q45.org zeroforum?id=108

The timing chain isn't the problem - change that if you feel like it when you get the guides done. It will stretch slightly over time, but it's not an issue.

The PROBLEM is the timing chain GUIDES. Infiniti used plastic-backed guides for the first several years, 90-93, and they deteriorate in petroleum oil and WILL FAIL, which will toast the engine. You have to have them replaced ASAP. It will cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $2000 at a dealer.
