While I didn't test drive a 2012 Sentra, I did look at them online. I liked how the steering wheel was the same as the rogue (kind of big and easy to grip) and liked that you could get the intelligent key etc, but wasn't a huge fan of the overall interior design. Also, the exterior wasn't my favorite either and my wife really was not a fan. I would mention how I thought the Sentra could be good for us and she would be like "I saw one today and hate the way it looks" and low and behold as I suspected, she was seeing the earlier generation. We got to the dealership to test drive a CPO Altima and Sentra and she saw a prior gen Sentra parked next to the current gen and she finally realized what I was talking about.
The interior and exterior on the new Sentra is great. I'm also thrilled that we were able to get one fully loaded and still have the price and payment be within our budget (nothing like playing hardball with the dealer on both price and trade in value on her civic ha!). So far the only two minor complaints I have is that the armrest doesn't slide forward (it does on the 2014 but we couldn't get one loaded for the price we paid for the '13) and that the Bluetooth audio streaming option doesn't seem to work if you have another device plugged into the USB port (it doesn't even come up when you cycle through).
Overall though really like the car, the interior and trunk space is incredible for a relatively "small" car. We don't have any kids yet but might in the future so it was important to have a usable back seat for kids/carseats and adults.
Big fan of the Rogue too, that's primarily the wife's car but I drove it the other day for running errands since we have a single car width driveway and she was parked behind me. It does really well in the snow too, even better than my old Impreza.
On a side note, I'm really glad both cars have the backup camera, makes reversing so much easier even in the Sentra which has good visibility. In the Rogue I can't imagine driving the car without it because that rear visibility leaves something to be desired without it ha
