Hello all!

I have been mostly lurking so far, enjoying the conversation, but now I've got a couple of questions:

I own a 1999 q45t with 32k miles on it, and so far, I have no complaints that the dealer can't fix under warranty. I have been reading a lot of posts about the fuel rails of the first generation Q, and wonder if there are similar issues with the fuel system getting really dirty on the second generation cars as well?

Are there any other gotchas with this line of cars (like the chain guides on the first generation) that I should be aware of?

Does anyone have a 1999 q45 service manual that they'd like to get rid of?

Thanks...

Jeff

Jeff,

The 97-01 generation of Q45 are the most reliable and (relatively speaking) low maintenance V8 luxo sports out there. No known issues of any kind I am aware of, beyond what is normal (ie in bad gas states, all cars have weak injectors, but this car was designed w/ injectors with reformulated gas in mind so there is no more a problem than w/ all others; as for the first gen Q's, most cars from that era hate reformulated gas)

Like all cars the maintenance tips (keeping TB+rails clean, transmission flushing etc etc) apply to this generation Q45 as well, of course.

Fred...:)

We see the same knock sensor failures from overheats, EGR dirt, throttle body dirt,...........lots easier to work on.........drivers seat air bag........brake rotors........nothing major. We have some 97 Q customers getting close to 200k. AC compressor and evaporator.

Thanks for your reply guys! I just got to see the maintenance records for this car at the Infiniti dealership, and it looks like the car was taken care of pretty well (4-5K per oil change versus the 3-4K I would like to see). Hopefully that means that I'll be able to drive it for the next 10 years without issue. :)
