i could have sworn i read somewhere that there were some oem seats that had the seatbelt assembly attached to them. am i smoking crack or what?

i'm getting rid of ebony's door mounted seatbelts, and going this route would make things sooo easy.

Lots of late-model 'verts have them.

Try the new Cavalier convertible.

the newer Pontiac Bonnie's have them too.

stupid idea...so was the seatbelt on the door...

ever have seat bolts break in a wreck? kinda sucks, I only had 2 break in my car though...

the shoulder strap is usually what's on the seat too, and that better be a really strong seat back.

that sounds like a bad idea. The reason that harnesses have to be mounted as close to parallel with the floor is so that if your seat breaks, then the seatbelt will keep your head off the windshield. And seats flex a LOT in a collision, thats why you have to secure them to your roll bar.I dunno, if the OEM's do it I'm sure there is a way to make it safe, but if you are considering this as a weekend project I'd probably say steer clear.
