Busted seat 101 on my Qbomb. Forward Pax set is in full blown heinous recline and will not right itself. Motor turns and brings seat up 1/2 inch and quits. It seems as though on this machine gangster lean reigns supreme.

I peeled the back off the the drivers seat to see if the recline motor was accessible. It is not, that seat is jammed with more crap that the space shuttle for the SRS and fixing it looks to be impossible. A NEW seat is 'only' $1700.

So....Found a Q with similar seats but the guys says they are "slightly" off color. Dude says he'll pull the seat and its mine for 200 bucks. I remove my old and reinstall the new. Or, if I buy BOTH he'll swap them out and do ALL the labor. He is in the car bidness and says he knows the Q well and its interiors. Assuming that he is right and they are close I then have a car with the wrong color seats, either both or the pax.

Questions:

1. Will the SRS still work if it's been messed with?

2. How close can an leather shop come to re-dying the seat? He maintains very close.

3. Or, what about some nice sheepskins over both seats (assuming I just bought one seat I
could save some ching by buying two seat covers)

4. A sheepskin cover will prevent the side air bag from inflating fully. That could potentially suck in the event of a collision. How much will it suck? Is there a suckmeter or just lots of blood?

5. Will a fat chick smash the pile down on a sheepskin or are sheep naturally resistant to big butts? My special lady friend weighs just 118lbs and is quite the toight little gym rat so it's not likely to be an issue, but one never knows.

"Stay thirsty my friends"

First off, why would you quote a man doesn't always drink beer? "I don't always drink beer but when I do i drink dos equis"
I certainly will stay thirsty with that beer present!

There is a post on seat covers on ebay recently. He did them on a 300z and they look good.

or keep searching you will find some matching seats.

I hate airbags!

Turns out that the seats are darn near identical. If the color is different you probably won't notice it until they are side by side. The wreck had 80,000 on it and the seats are in far better shape then mine. So....

Instead of buying one seat for 200 and going through all the hassle of either buying two covers or having it dyed, I just bought both seats. For 400 he will do ALL the work. Pull mine out, and toss the others in. Seems like a solid win win for me.

I was quoted 125 to dye one seat, and 150 to take the skin off my busted seat and put it back on the good seat, so that's over 325 in either event.

He specializes in high end import repair - mostly Mercedes and BMW, so I figure that the work ought to be within their bailiwick.

The wrecks engine has already been installed in another Q and the trans removed and stored for someone, someday. It was a 2000 Anniversary Edition and looks to have been well taken care of prior to the accident.

So...the whole fat chick dilemma has been resolved!
