Like most 240s my stock seats are crap. I bought Sparco Torinos to put in my convertible... well it looks like sparco torinos only fit in regular 240s not convertibles. I was wondering what I could put into my car that is going to fit and be of better quality than stock. I heard s14 seats fit. Do they? Are there aftermarket seats available?

S13 pignose ($50), S14 ($250), S15 ($550) bolt right in and are better than stock vert seats. As far as I know, S14 and S15 do not recline all of the way due to the 1/4 panel covers on the vert.

I think R32 Skyline GT-R ($600) fit, too, but you have to weld a tab on the frame in order to get the 4th bolt to work.

There are tons of aftermarket seats available, but they are typically more racing-oriented and more expensive than OEM.

Go to a reuphoulstry shop and you could get leather seats either tan or black. I personally am getting black ones because they would look good with jade green metallic. But reuphoulstry would be the way to go. I agree that the seats that come in the 240sx's convertible is crap.

I am doing front and backs. I am also doing black leather. I live in sammamish, WA and found a place in seattle, WA that can do the reuphoultry for around $400-$500 for both of the back seats. I thought it would be a little bit more but it wasn't. Thats just a rough estimate that they gave me but it they said it maybe a little bit more. The $400-$500 is for both the front and back seats and the labor.

Heres the website thats in seattle, WA: http://www.convertiblesonly.com

I asked about replacing my convertible top and they said it was going to be $3000 and thats a little bit high. So basically i am going to have my convertible top replaced from a guy who said it was going to be $700-$1000. Sounds soooo much cheaper.

Anyway back to the seats. I would really consider reuphoulstering them instead of buying brand new seats which are a waste of money. Just a thought.

Hopes this helps. If you want me to look up reuphoulstry shops in your area for you i would be glad to do so. Its really easy online.

How is it a waste of money? It's roughly equivalent to reupholstering the stockers, which most people consider ugly and uncomfortable.

Not unless you get it in black leather.

Sparco Evo if you have lots of money to blow on seats.

Regardless of the material covering it...its still going to be the same seat though, right?

I find my seats to have NO lumbar support, and be completely useless for anything involving medium-to-sharp turning. I'd love to get some aftermarket seats, but its just not in the budget right now.

My seats are stock S13 vert seats that have been done in leather. They look and feel great but offer no real support for spirited driving. If your vert is a daily driver then recovering in leather is fine. If you want your butt to stick in them then an S14 seat (maybe recovered in leather) is more in line.

Also, my top replacement was less than $1000 for the best quality cloth . $3000 is crazy.

there is a large hole pretty much worn down to the steel frame on the driver's side bolster. if i get the reupholstered can this be fixed? if so how much will this add to the cost of reupholstering?

Personally.. I think S14 seats are the best bang for the buck in a 240 'vert. They fit nicely (though a little tight to recline far). They look nice, they are cheap, and they are very comfortable.. even for big guys like me.

Screw reupholstering the incredibly crappy stock S13 seats that came in our convertibles. They are crappy on an order of magnitude that cannot be compared to other cars. The only seats Nissan made that might be worse than S13 seats were NX2000 seats. Just unholy crappy seats, in design, in fabric construction...terrible.

Go get a set of S14 seats and call it a day. They are more supportive, look better, and bolt right in to your S13 in about 10 minutes. S15 seats are even better than that.

Unless you are doing track days and autocrosses on a monthly basis, there's absolutely NO use for race seats. None. Waste of money for seats you'll never use to their full potential (and they require a harness bar/roll bar and 5 or 6 point harnesses in order to properly be used).

S14/S15 seats are it. No contest.

I just bought a transmission from a guy that had a s14. His car had leather seats, 70,000 miles and a chunk missing out of the bolster. Is this common? Am I going to run into the same problem with s14 seats? (sorry for all the questions I am just trying to not waste my money)

Most of the leather S14 seats I've seen have issues.

Try and get the black/grey cloth S14s if you can. They look the best since there's no pattern. Cloth is also better in a vert - they don't get as hot and don't crack.

Pignose seats are the best bang for the buck though. People who discount them have probably never owned them.

If you do the door pillar removal mod, you can run basically any seat. That dang door pillar takes up a lot of space on the vert, which is the issue you are having.

If you don't want to go that route but still want an aftermarket seat, find something w/ smaller shoulder bolster dimensions (i.e. I think the Sparco Torino's are like 23"+, go for something 22" and below). You can find dimensions off manufacturer sites.

Smaller fixed bucket seats tend to fit. I have a Blitz one that fits in my vert w/ stock vert doors. I also believe the smaller/narrow Buddy Club seat fits.

Stock seats from s14, s15, etc all fit fine w/o any modding.

^^^^ I had pignose seats since I also have an 89 240sx - they are the best bang for the buck since they are usually given away for free - definately better than the stock vert seats, but I never really liked them.

I just got my vert Wednesday and bought some S14 seats from a junkyard Friday for $30 a piece.

No one's mentioned it yet so I will:If you are going to put S14 seats in your convertible change over the seat belt receivers BEFORE you bolt the seat into the car!!!The seat buckles are not compatible from the S13 to the S14, and I had to go through the lengthy process of completely unbolting/rebolting everything because I didn't swap out the seatbelts receivers before I put the seats in.

my vert has black leather and omg its so hot when you leave the top down i have to fold up the seats so the sun doesnt hit them. but then renders my motion sensor useless because the seats block it. so if you had a choice i wouldnt do black, but it looks good so i deal with it.
