Everybody around here seems to agree that seatbelts carry a lifetime warranty. I took my 240 up to the local dealership and they said yeah that's right. Then when they found that it had like 150k miles they said that lifetime really only means 100k miles. wtf!! Who's lying to me? Ok, forget the lying part. Really though, what's going on?

im not sure what the warranty covers but it is forever forever. i have replace seatbelts on 15 year old 300,000 mile cars under warranty. i know for sure it covers latches, frayed belts, electrical components, and other mechanical stuff.

if the seatbelt isn't able to serve it's function because of wear and tear, then they have to replace it. I don't think a cut put there on purpose will get you the new seat belts, but fraying and tears otherwise should be covered

The warranty covers seatbelts that cease to work due to normal wear and tear. It does NOT cover accidently cutting, breaking due to abuse, or tampering.

Also, this warranty is not governed by the company. It is governed by the government.

Those dirty bastages sent me away again, this time saying that up to '94 model Nissans carried a 10 year (aka lifetime) warranty on seatbelts, and after 94 it was lifetime lifetime. I told him it was required by the government even though I don't really know much about that. He wouldn't double check for me so I asked where the next nearest Nissan dealership was and left.

So...can someone explain this government regulation to me or provide a link or something? I plan to call this other dealership but I want to make sure I'm prepared this time. Is there someone or something I can tell them to reference for the warranty?

Call this number and find out for sure.

I know I heard that the seatbelts have a lifetime warranty from Motorweek.
