I've been told in the past that seatbelts (especially of the automatic variety) are covered for the "reasonable life of the car" by the factory warranty, and that they are required by law to fix them.

Well, my belts don't move...the driver's one is stuck 3/4 way toward the front, and the passenger one is where it's supposed to be when locked in place, and the car's running.

I've tried changing that module underneath the center console, to no avail.

Any ideas?

When i had my last 240, i took it to Buckeye Nissan in Lancaster, OH because the passenger belt was REALLY slow, and i mentioned the warranty to them. They looked at it, and cleaned out a TON of gunk and grime that was in the tracks. They said that wasn't technically covered, but they went ahead and did it anyways.

Good question. My driver belt is starting to rip. DO you think they would replace it under warrenty?

weird... u can always try @ your local dealership... YMMV since every1's experiences are different in each state...

when I was ordering some parts @ cherry hill nissan, I swung over to service to ask this ? & they said no problem; it's covered <shrugs>

the dealership won't fix your not working seatbelt. The only thing nissan covers is if your seat belt doesn't buckle or not. If it doesn't move they could careless

ok i just went to my local nissan dealer and i asked them if they would replace my ripped seatbelt on my 92 240sx under warrenty and they said yes. They said all they want to do is see it and make sure it is a nissan belt and they will replace it. That shouldn't be a problem. so i guess im getting a new seatbelt.

w1ngzer0 sorry to say but you're dead wrong, every major car manufacturer has to have a lifetime warranty covering the mechanical parts of automatic seatbelts, its a huge liability issue if they don't. P.S. a friend of mine just got his Honda taken care of at the dealership, just depends on the dealership really, but they're supposed to fix it.

does anyone know if the warranty also covers the manual belts?

because my driver's side lap belt won't go back into its holder....it's all just laying in the floor behind my driver's seat instead of coiling back up.

SUPPOSEDLY any Nissan dealership, but I've heard stories of some refusing the service, some doing it....it isn't in their interest to refuse because Nissan is paying for the service, and they get the same amount they would if the consumer were paying for that service, so honestly it shouldn't make a difference to the dealer....I highly doubt they'd convert to a manual seatbelt ;) More likely than not they'd just give you a new auto system, IF yours is somehow not functioning correctly...my driver side isn't working very well, I have to push it all the way back for it to work, I'm gonna test out the warranty myself, most likely when I get back to school.

you probly have a cap off of the spring cover. I fixed mine in like 5 minutes the hardest part was getting it out. it's a easy fix but it's covered. just call up a nissan dealer and askthem about it.

Just had my auto belts fixed. Drivers side was stuck about 9/10th way back. Dealer didnt ask any questions, just fixed it and sent me on my way.
