I've an '06 M. The driver seat heater heats quite well. However, it has recently begun to work on and off; on its own schedule. Sometimes it'll go on, then off a bit later. Other times it won't even turn on.

Anyone w/similar problems and/or a fix or explanation for same?

The plate element is theromstatically controlled so if the seat temperature reaches a pre determined temp the plate should turn off but I think the fan might still run. Does the little light on the switch light up when it turns itself on?

If possible raise the seat all the way and look under there for any damage to the harness under the seat that may cause it to short. If you nothing I would say take it in to get checked out. Although you may get NPF No Problem Found as an answer. I don't think the seat heaters are detectable using Consult.

The little light goes out along w/the heater. I can turn it on @ times, and the light does not go on, nor does the heater. The light will go out midstream, as well as the heater.

I'll look underneath when I get the chance. What is "Consult" that you mentioned?

Thanx for the reply.

I spent some time this afternoon reading just how the system in these works.
2006 M SE section wrote:The climate controlled seat system is controlled by climate controlled seat control unit.Heating and cooling are possible for a thermal electric device (heat conversion machine).NOTE: The climate controlled seat system is downed when the temperature sensor set as the seat cushion andthe seat back's thermal electric device machine detects 20 °C (68 °F)or more of mutual differences of temperature. In this case, by turning off ignition switch, system down is canceled and it can be reused by turning onignition switch again. The climate controlled seat blower keep low speed for approximately 60 seconds after turning the climatecontrolled seat switch.CAUTION: The thermal electric device has the character in which, as for an opposite side. one side becomeshigh temperature at the time of low temperature.
There are two sensors, two Peltier plates and a fan.

Click For More Info (the thermoelectric subsection has a perfect description)

I don't know if that company supplies Infiniti but the video on their main page shows a great little video of the seat components. That's why it takes well over an hour and a half to change a seat track.

The Consult II and III are the interface device we use to communicate with your M.
