Seat Covers?

I really need to protect my nice new seats from the ravages of a careless teenage passenger. I bought some standard stretch seat covers for the front that really look nice and work well, until I noticed that the side air bags are intended to deploy from the seat sides--upshot: can't use 'em.

Any ideas as to what to use? Does Nissan make some just for the V?

Bonus Question: Does anybody else have a problem with the passenger-side "air bag off" light being illuminated when a passenger is sitting in that seat?

Thanks.

yes id like more details from folks with seat covers on their V's.

brand & model would be helpful.

i only tried once with some universal seat covers locally and they didn't fit well at all so i've given up since....

I just used some scotchguard to protect the seats a little. That and trying to limit the amount of spillable items that ever enter my Versa. As for the airbag light, I have been having a few problems with it going on when nothing is in the seat (which shouldn't be happening. But if an adult passanger is in the seat and sitting properly, the light should not be illuminated. If the passanger is very light (small child), leaning forward, or not wearing the seatbelt properly, it's normal for the light to be on. If that is not the case, get it checked out.

The V has 6 airbags standard.

#1 and 2 are the driver and front passenger air bags.#3 and 4 are the left and right side curtain air bags.#5 and 6 are the driver and front passenger seat-side air bags. If you look at the outboard side of each front seat, you will see the words "SRS Air Bag" stitched into them. That's where the seat air bags are.

There's also a seller on eBay who makes a set that look decent and they have been created to allow the airbags to deploy... It all depends on what you're looking for and how much you want to spend. When last I talked to the guy on eBay, he was willing to do custom colors and wording on the covers.

I beleive I read somewhere that some V's were having problems with thier passanger airbag light not functioning properly.

Bring it to the dealer and have it checked!!!!

Wouldn't want to get in an accident without an airbag!!!!!

And EV...it took me 2 months to realize why my nice new V had no lower lumbar support (my father complained about it and I was confused) until I realized there was probably no room for it because of the airbag.

My Dad was happier then when I told him of the tradeoff Nissan made...safety before total comfort, LOL

I would say it paid off too when I got in my wreck but only the front 2 airbags and the passenger side curtain went off

No need IF it is on when there is only less than so many pounds in the front seat, I forget the specific number, it would probably tell you in your manual though. This is for safety if you happen to have a small child which may get injured by the airbag in case of an accident. But any teenager or adult sitting in the seat properly and I mean PROPERLY, it should not be on, if this is not the case, then yes get it checked. The dealer will tell you that it is normal if this is the case.

Correct...I think the manual says less than 50lbs (about 20kg for you Canadians who use the "correct" way of measuring things) but I could be wrong. It DEFINITELY states the weight in the manual...I've read it.

I was assuming Wippy meant an adult, bad assumption by me.
