My drivers side seat and steering wheel controls start blinking and will not stop unless I go through the reset process. No problem. Now though the reset last for all of two days and then the blinking starts again.

I only loose the ability to move my steering wheel when this happens. I can still move the seat by using the door controls, but not the steering wheel. I am tired of going through the reset so often in the winter cold.

Each steering/seat has a potentiometer which supplies a location/posotional voltage for each position. When these potentiometers get dirty corroded, gooey, etc the voltage may drop out and the positioner loses its mind [memory].

Component Replacement and or cleaning is the only solution. .

Your FSM describes the various trouble shooting methods,..........the 94 and later get a bit more complicated as multiplex data signals are sent/received by body control module on sigle datalines.

Hussain, what you can do is go through the service manual and do the diagnostic procedure. it will tell you what is at fault (or at least what it thinks is wrong).

I think I mentioned it last time you were around. If you want, I can post up some instructions for you to do. If you have the service manual, go to the EL section, goto LAN TROUBLE DIAGNOSIS and do the different tests.

This happened to me a couple of times in a row a while back. Tech is correct. In my case it was a loose connection on one of the two wires on the positive battery terminal. Check to see if either of these two wires is loose.

Do you mean on the battery itself? If so, then we have the cause of this problem and the laboring starter.

Wes I do have the service manual and I will check the connections as well as do the diagnostics and post. It is truly driving me nuts.

Yeah well I went out this am and took the cables off examined and cleaned. Hooked all back up and no more labored starting kicks over like it did previously.May need a starter later and that would make sense, after all the car is not new, but if the car can wait..................... so can I.

I am still going to do the diagnostic test on the door panel if it goes out again. Since the battery was disconnected I did a reset and I will see how long it holds.

Thanks for all the input.

I guess I spoke too soon. I now find the situation has improved, meaning that it is not happening all the time. It would seem the connections did improve the situation but did not solve the problem.

It looks like I will be doing the starter. The drag or laboring is back. I am not surprised because I have owned the vehicle for five years and do not recall, nor can I find paper work to show I replaced the starter so it is going to get done real soon.

Any input, where I should go to get a reman starter or is it advisable to buy a new one?

The new window settings DO seem to be holding since I did the cleaning of the terminals and tightened the connections.

Just an updateMy Q is down, the starter went on New Year's Eve. Got a used one coming but needless to say I cannot judge if the setting is holding quite yet but it did hold the setting for almost a week before the starter went ....which is a distinct improvement over having to set it every 24 to 48 hours. The problem does seem to have been the connections coming off the positive lead of the battery. It was loosing contact and forcing a reset, frequently. In the spring I will be replacing all those leads, I am sure it is over due.
