I just failed inspection because of my seat belt. Its frayed, the guys i talked to up there said Nissan didnt start until 1993. Ive read so many accounts of people in 89's, like mine, being fixed for rails and automatic parts. But here i am with a fraying belt and not able to get a free replacement because its not a 93.

Im SOL right now and have 15 days to fix this, what can i do? DO ANYONE have a manual with an 89 that says something about the warranty?

Someone help me win this one

that sucks man. ive delt with this a few times. trust me, ALL NISSANS ARE COVERED. the dealership your goin to are just a$$holes. try calling 1-800-NISSAN1 (1-800-647-7261). thats nissans consummor affairs. they should be able to help you and get that dealership striaght.

well i did call that number and got some recall number. so basically they arent fixing it for "WARRANTY" but instead because there was a recall that i havent taken yet.

I just hope i dont have any problems with the automatic belt assembly or something cause that would require more phone calls and possibly more documentation to find.

That number did the trick though. Im very unhappy with this nissan right now

i guess ill see what happens when i drop the car off tomorrow morning.

I call bs. I have an 89 and the warranty states,"This warranty covers any NISSAN supplied seatbelt or related component that fails to function properly during normal use for the useful life of the vehicle. Warranty repairs are free of charge for parts and labor."

where do you have that warranty information? thats what i need. photocopied or something, they just wouldn't do anything unless i had something to look at because "records dont show 89's having a warranty" at nissan

I have the original 89 warranty booklet in my car. I don't have a scanner but I can still take pics of it if you like.

Ugh... yeah, don't give up. It's not like these guys that work at the dealership are losing anything by helping you out with your seatbelt.

Wow thanks, this will make me much happier to walk in there tomorrow morning and show them what is up. it just baffled me how they would assume to start a warranty 4 years after they started production.

I agree, and as do I. If it doesn't work out with PAHC, hit me up, same deal.

hahahahahaah, "Now your sure you didn't cut these with a razor blade?" I mean how else do they put that.... thats a rediculous question. Yes, I cut those so that I could fail inspection and have to take them back to you, just to get warrantied anyways. I hate hate HATE STEALERships.

they gave me the number P5111 to give them. which just brought up "seat belts" at the dealer ship so they agreed to do it. they actually didnt know what the recall was for sure, even with the number.

The person i talked to on the phone was given a name and they couldn't say it, she just spelled it out, t-a-i-k-a i think???? no clue

I agree, i would be pissed if i failed cause of this, esp. because i never even use my seatbelts,

BUT, if the OP left with a fresh inspection sticker and got in a collision and died going through the windshield cause of his belt fray then he would have been even MORE of a douchebag. AND the cops investigating the crash would see the fresh sticker and track down the inspector and yank his inspection license. All VERY unlikely, but possible, and maybe he figured they were warranty anyways.

ive always heard that if the car is salvaged that it voids the warrenty. the dealership i went to when my auto seatbelts went out never asked though and they were all cool about it. they never gave me any hastle about it. i guess it all depends on the people at the dealer.

get some s14 belts and call it a day. It took me a couple hours first time I mounted them. Auto belts are annoying anyway, or just get another track out of another 89 240sx or whatever. Dealerships don't care what the warranty from 20 years ago said.

If you want full oem look find a canadian part out, get headliner, A pillar covers and B pillar covers. This is not worth covering again.
I'm sure they did not replace.
