I did a good search and found one topic unanswered on this subject.

As of late, my seat belt (driver side) has had a hell of a time coming back up. It comes out just fine, but when removing, the seatbelt doesn't want to go back in it's home and it's pissing me off. I've tried spraying brake-clean, and WD-40 into the hole where the seatbelt goes, but still nothing. I've tried soaking a screw driver tip in the same stuff and trying to wedge it in there and clean it out, but still nothing.

Anyone have a remedy for this? It's a supreme piss off.

Is there tension on the seatbelt while its trying to retract? That would make the motor work extra hard and slow it down. Ive gotten used to sorta pulling on the seatbelt right before i open the door so there is no tension on it so it opens just fine. When its going real slow, trying unhooking the belt from the track. That'll tell you if its the motor or not.

Aye there is definatly a lack of tension. Almost unsafe amount of slack. I wasn't aware of an internal motor. Easily servicable?

Edit: That is to say, the seatbelt remains at w/e length I pull.

you could take the tensioner out and try to clean it, but i belive that would also go under the seatbelt warentee nissan has which is for the life of the car.

Seatbelt Warranty? - would anyone care to elaborate? I was aware there was one for the automatic seat belts retracting thing.

But up here in Canada, I just have the regular manual style belts. I suppose I should have clarified that.

The seatbelts have a lifetime warranty at nissan. Go to a dealership and they MUST replace the seatbelt granted there are no cuts or blatant abuse on the seatbelts.

Does this warranty also apply to Canadian residents?
