I recently noticed that with my seatbelt on, I can pull it fwd all I want, everytime. Should this not lock up? What good is the seatbelt if it just pulls out at will? Is there an adjustment, or do I maybe need a new mechanism???

Hit the brakes hard or take a really hard turn and see if it locks.

Just pull it hard. It should lock it.

Thats what worries me. I have pulled it hard, jerked it fast, pulled it all the way out, and it does not seem to lock up?

heh, does that explain the avatar

j/k try pulling on it partially oto the side harrd it should lock up. if not, look down where the sealbelt bottom is connected to the chassis, if you see a tag hanging out that says this car was in an accident or something like that you may wanna get it checked out asap incase it damaged the stop.

the seatbelts were made to do this because you are suppose to leave them latched even when u get in and out of the car. but noone does. its "automatic seatbelts"

How do they keep you in place in an accident situation then? The way they seem to be acting, I don't see where they offer any restraint, or protection?

there's a mechanism based on inertia, that will lock the seat belts. slam the brakes one day and see if they are working....you really shouldnt have to slam that hard for them to work. a good sudden slow down should do it.
