The memory for the seat and steering in my Q doesn't work. Is this a common thing to go wrong? What is at fault when this happens usually?

I put the settings in to memory for me and the girlfriend, and the lights come on as if things are ok. But next time, nothing is remembered....

Be sure the cancel switch on the left side of the steering column is off(out).

One tip I read, is to disconnect the battery overnight. It resets something. I know it happened to someone else, might wanna do a search.

I'll try the battery overnight. Checked the cancel and it is out. I still get the movement of the wheel up and in and the seat back a bit upon turning off the key. Just not the way forward setting for the seat when she drives. Or back for me after she's been out - it's kind of a pain since the drivers seat doesn't move back like the pass either - just in short bursts - move a little, STOP, move a little, STOP....

Anybody experience this?

Sounds like you have a short somewhere......

If you have a FSM, i recommend doing the automatic drive positioner self diagnosis!

When you try the battery thing, be sure to do the reset procedure. With the key in the ignition, open and close the door a few times until it starts moving again..

That is sweet - I'll have to get this working. On the memory function, does that adjust the mirrors too?

Lockwood7- I have the same issue you are describing with my 90. Put the key in, steering wheel moves a bit, seat moves a bit, but not fully in the saved position. A press or 5 on the preset button and it moves everything a little bit sometimes and sometimes it goes to the full preset position for everything.

I've been trying to get to the bottom of that for a long time. Checked with a local Q-expert and he said he thought that there was a module that controlled the pulse sent to the motors to move the wheel and seat that occasionally went flakey. He was going to check into his notes (10-15 years as an infiniti tech) and see what he could find. That was about a month ago, so I think I'll rattle his cage again.

The weird thing is that sometimes... it works. Most times it doesn't and I have to push the button a few times to get it all positioned. Also, when you remove the key... almost always it backs the seat up and raises the wheel fine. Now and then it only moves a tiny bit.

Finally, if I have the defeat button engaged on the left side of the wheel and manually move the wheel, sometimes it won't telescope all the way or raise all the way, but when I go back to the preset method and press away, it moves in the total range of motion.

If it is a short, it seems that a circuit board in a module makes the most sense, because the manual motion on all the seat functions work great. It is just the preset thing.

I'll make another call or two and see if I can get more info... I too would like to have that feature work properly because it is really nice. Also, Q451990 is right-- no auto mirror adjustment on the 90.

Too bad about the mirrors on our '90's, would make for the easiest transition between drivers. I guess I will have to be a little inconvienenced.... I'll just let her drive the Miata all the time!

Let me know what the Q expert says, lets get to the bottom of this.
