so i just finished wiring up the MSD 6al, just for reference i did it like this.
Thick red: directly to battery posativeThick black: to ground wire on intake manifoldThin red: went to black with red stripe comming from old coil harness connection this is a switched 12v source.Thin white: went to green with black stripe- this is the signal wire.Orange wire went to posative coilBlack wire went to negative coil
I checked and the box is getting its constant 12v, and the switched 12v red wire is getting its 12v when ignition is on.
I have also installed the MSD blaster SS coil. There is a ground plug and a 3 wire plug from the previous coil, are these needed?
The car doesnt start. Right now no one is home to turn the car over while i check the signal wire at the coil and ECU so i dont know if it is getting an rmp signal at all.
One thing is i do not have the tach adapter that is supposedly needed in order for the tach to work. The MSD book says that this MAY keep the car from turning on, but i have heard of no one else w/o the tach adapter not have a running car because of it. That means nothing really and thats kinda my question. Can the car operate normally w/o the tach adapter. I am thinking that if the Tach is not getting an rpm signal than neither is my ECU. And without the RPM signal to my ecu, the fuel injection and of course ignition is simply not working.
Help me out.Thanks,~Sam
