Ok, I have the FSM, but I cannot decipher the mess in the emissions section. I've looked all over online with no concrete information in the hours I spent searching, so hopefully someone can help me out here. My brother "borrowed" my emissions parts off my convertible to pass smog. He didn't however put it back, and I cannot figure out a few of the vacuum lines at the back of the head and the back of the intake manifold. In the following image, I have traced and numbered the lines and ports in question. If anyone can just take a quick look at their motor and let me know all or even some of the layout, it would be a huge help!

12 and 10 go to a 't" and then to 6

11 and 5 go to a t and then to 9

4 and 3 connect

2 goes to 81 to 7

My view of 6, 7,8, 9 is from the top. I'll take a picture of that view and number them the way I interpreted things.

If you get a chance, take some pics of the connected lines because there has not been a single picture of this and the car is 20 yrs old. It is almost impossible with engine in car.

my 9 was obscured by 6. my 9 is right under the 6 so I think it looks different than how your 4 stick out. so it might be hard to tell which is which. the 4 seem to be welded just before the area where i took the pic. and then bent in different directions.

two seem to be on top of bracket and two on bottom, and then one of the ones on top is bent down and one of the ones on bottom is bent up.

Checked again . it looks like we have the same labeling. 9 comes up from the bottom and 7 is going down from top bracket. your 9 was bent a bit different than mine.

Wierd! Thanks for the help btw. I'll try to take a couple pics of the hard lines from a different angle to double check! I'll be gone for a couple days, but I will get those pics up soon!

i guess two of the rubber hoses go to the aiv. and some would go the canister by air filter. looks like the short rubber hose with no colour stripe is the vacuum source. the other vacuum source being around where the iacv is.

I did this diagram a LONG time ago. It is quite simple, but simply taking pics and pointing arrows while trying to explain it is kind of tough to do without being there. So here you go. MS Paint at it's finest.

Thanks so much for those pix guys. I'm in the process of dealing with my top end and got aggravated when I pulled the intake mani and cut some lines. Looks like the majority of them I can just ditch(deleting EGR).

Does the swirl control valve need to stay?

The swirl control valve does need to stay if the butterfly valves are still in the intake runners.

Hello! i've recently had my vacuum line break and was wondering if i had to take the engine out to replace it. It's the u-shaped line to the right of the left "vac relay" in this pic

You should be able to get to that no prob with the motor in.

shouldn't be too hard to get at. If you have big hands it might help to take the transmission crossmember out, loosen the motor mount nuts, and jack up on the back of the transmission a bit to open up a bit more room between those hoses and the firewall.
