Hi there and thanks for reading. Hopefully someone out there can answer this question.
I have a '89 240sx. Recently a shop up island had a 240 come in wrecked and was parting things out. I got the call if I wanted the vlsd out of it. I said sure, paid for it, and today attempted to install it.
After a few bruised knuckles, mutterings about the rear sway bar, etc I managed to get it in. I was given the entire pumpkin so I just unbolted mine, bolted the vlsd in, and drove the car normally on the street to check for vibration, shimmys, etc. All was fine.
I haven't taken it around any sharp corners or attempted a "drift" yet with it. My question is, having now done some research I'm wondering if what I put in was even the vlsd pumpkin. Some sites are saying:
" If you own an S13 (89-94) you will need to swap the rear cover off your stock open diff onto the VLSD"
I didn't have to do that.
Another states:
" VLSD sourced from:240SX with ABS Modifications needed: None Differential housing is ~.75" longer
The pumpkin I got didn't have a location for the abs sensor so I just wire-tucked it under the car. I have an abs light on but I don't much care about that right now. Just looking to find out if I, in fact, do have an lsd.
I didn't even think to check to make sure both sides turnedt he same was (is it possible to check while attached to the drive shaft?)
Any help would be much appreciated.-Rik
*** edit and note *** I did notice that when I went to attach the driveshaft back to the pumpkin that I had more room and wasn't reduced to only using open faced wrenches on the bolts. I was able to get a closed loop wrench on it.
