I just had a pacesetter header put on, and the header is leaking. The flanges are all connected, and while the first one fits (toward the front of car) the gap between the header and the engine gets progressively wider as it goes back.

One mechanic says throw another gasket in and tighten it down, another said that'll just push the whole thing out since its one piece.

I'm wondering if I could just use some kind of silicon sealer to kind of "caulk" around the flanges on the header to seal it in? Is this possible? Can anyone recommend such a sealent?

thanks,

I dont know of any sealants that work with high heat. But I do have a recommendation....SELL IT!! And buy a Greddy or Hotshot header...they're worth it.

not trying to be mean....just informing....

Your best bet would be to ditch the pacesetters as Silvers said. : ) Lots of people have problems, a few people swear by them but very, very few. : ) Sadly you may have wasted your money...they also rust out extremely quickly and bust...

thanks filipity, this looks like exactly what I was looking for. have you or anyone you know used this? I'm wondering if I should take the head off and use this stuff like a liquid gasket or just fill in the gaps with it?

thanks again,

I suppose you could take the headers off ;) BTW the exhaust gaskets - at least on the ka24de are individual... one for each exhaust port. FYI a leaky exhaust header can burn out your valves!
