I have been thinking of buying a 1 piece driveshaft for a while now, and after seeing the prices for drop in units, I am going to have one made locally. It never occured to me the guy that rebuilt the transmission and transfer case on my 4x4 could make one up for me. Even though he made both d-shafts for my Bronco, one for my Toyota,as well as several off roaders and muscle car guys in the area. It never occured to me to ask him about the 240.Well I went by the other day to ask him about it and he said sure no prob. Then he asked what kind of U-joints do you want? I dont know.Well let me know. You can either give me your driveshaft or I can go with Dana flanges and we can drop and replace w/no down time.Well the U-joints on my truck are greasable, but my truck rides about 5' off the ground so maintenance is not an issue. What would you recommend for a car? She is daily driven with the occasional burst of spirited driving. The quarterly road trip to visit the folks, nothing abusive or special about my driving. For the record, he is offering his standard 1 year warranty that comes with all his work. Just for refference, I run an Arts Carts custom 4sp. C6 in my truck. His exact words: Dont care how you drive it or how many miles you clock, if you have any problems or failures in that 1 year window bring it by or I will get it here for repair. Only 2 other places would work on the transmission, but no one offered a warranty of any kind. AND he charged less than any one else!!Sorry for the long story, but I never gave any thought to this simple question. Sealed or greaseable, WWJD?
