Bought a can of sea foam since Ive heard some people on here saying it was good for restoring your rig and cleaning up your motor. The damn can was $13.99!!! Ohwell, money well spent I hope

From what Ive read, you can pour some in the gas tank, some in the oil and suck some right up into the motor...

Well Im sure my fuel system is pretty tops so Im not gonna put it in my gas, and I JUST changed my oil, so I will save some for that. But I can still suck up a 1/2 can into the motor while its running right?

Is there any technique to it? Or just unhooked a vac hose (dont know which) and let it slowly suck up some and go for a drive and watch the smoke POUR out....???

heres a pic of my motor, can anyone point out a good vac source....

I cant really tell from the picture cause I haven't done it my self. But one fact that I know is when you do add seafoam to your oil, you should do a oil change after couple Kms. I would say about 200km<.

No, not 200kms, its like a 10min drive then change it, it breaks down your own, it needs to be changed fast.

Im just anxious to do this seafoam so im just gonna go ahead and do it anyways, Ill find a vacum source after the MAF hopefully that goes right to the intake mani and just suck er up

Do you have a pic of the brake booster line you used? I've been waiting to do this on my ride, bought the can a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks!

It's the main line (black, rubber hose) that comes off a 90 degree elbow straight off the booster (for those of you who don't know what the brake booster is, pop the hood and find the biga*s black cylindrical guy right next to the firewall, driver's side)...I would reccomend closer to 10 minutes than 5, and no need to drive it with all the smoke...you can run the risk of a ticket depending on where you live. Just start her up, grab a beer and a smoke and enjoy...just remember to put the vac line back on the brake booster.....And I use an entire can. Easiest to have a buddy...prep the deal (remove clamp, take the line almost all the way off the elbow, but not quite)...have your buddy start the car, hold RPM's at 3,000, to attain a good suction, crack the line open, listen to your friend start swearing 'cause the engine won't hold a constant 3k RPM, stick line into can, turn can upside down...it'll take it all. When the can is empty, kill the motor, button everything back up.

You really dont need a buddy, my car seemed to know it was sucking in fluid when I had that line disconnected because the rpms shot up anyways when it was sucking in any fluid at all

But yeah you cant miss that line, its 1" diameter line on the back firewall dirvers side

Disconnect it AFTER the check valve thats about 10" after the brake booster itself,, just remove the clip, pull off the hose and youll see how much suction it has.

I didnt even have to have the line inside the can it was pulling fluid right out of it lol

Thanks guys! What about doing this on a ride with close to 200,000 miles?

All the more crap you will pull out of the motor...if you've never done it before, change the oil shortly after...you'll gonna put alot of junk down the exhaust pipe...then again, you may just be removing the very crap that's holding the engine together....lol

Search the forum. Seafoam doesn't recommend it on very old engines that could have a lot of crap built up. Something about a carbon deposit breaking loose and jamming up somewhere else.

I believe it's recommended to run it through your tank and crankcase a couple of times before running it through the vacuum line to sort of get everything loosened up before.
