1 -- Yes2 -- Schucks, Cut Rate, Napa... about $5.00 a can.3 -- Disconnect the vacuum line from your PCV valve. Have a friend start your car while you keep your thumb over the vacuum line from the PCV valve. Have your friend idle the car up to about 2500 RPM. Stuff the PCV valve vacuum line into the can of seafoam. The car will drink 1/4 to 1/2 the can then stall. Replace vacuum line on PCV valve. Let car sit for 5-10 minutes. Restart car. It will not want to start. When it does, it will chug a few times, and blow an enormous cloud of white toxic smoke out the tailpipe. It will then lightly smoke for 5 or so miles. Make sure you do this outdoors, and not in your garage. If you cannot find the PCV valve hose, you can use the brake booster vacuum line.

hey i tried seafoam in my car today, some smoke came out but not as much as i thought would so i guess my motor is not that dirty. Also after i put it in now my idle is really low like 600 in drive & 850 in park. And also do i put the rest of the seafoam to a full tank of gas or empty?

If you add it to your gas tank, do it to a full tank. The smoke is not from filth in the engine, it's from the seafoam burning in the combustion chamber. Mine smoked out the block, but I got almost 1/2 a can in before the car stalled. I kept her throttled way up, to suck in the most I could. When it was idling low, was this right after you used the seafoam? It takes 5-10 miles of driving for everything to go back to normal.

Seafoam is not all that amazing. It just cleans out the intake fairly well. To keep your injectors clean, use Chevron with Techron, and add Techron concentrate to your tanks of gas.

You do use Premium gas too, correct?

Seafoam has several uses. You can run it through the brake booster line, the fuel system, or put it in the crankcase. It generally is used to get rid of any build up that has occured over time. However, I would advise you to only use it through the brake booster line to clean out your Intake manifold and to not put it into the gas tank or crankcase. I use it on a regular basis and it does smooth out the idle a wee bit so I know it's doing it's job. IMO the only additive that should be used in the fuel system is BG 44K and the only thing you should use in the crank case is AutoRx.

BG 44K will not necessarily extend the life of your injectors, but it does keep them free and clear of any build up that occurs, generally making your engine run more smoothly.

where can you get bg44k?

BTW -- i've used seafoam before, seems to me it does a lot more on a car with more than 35-45k on the clock. i use the brake line method.

Try calling dealerships in your area, I'm sure one of them carries it.

Just means you need to tighten those exhaust flanges. You have an exhaust leak.

The flange is where the two sections of pipe come together, and there is that triange-shaped flat piece with three bolts/nuts connecting them.

if you DO put it in your crankcase, you should change your oil damn near immediatly after... and my experience is that if you moderate how much gets sucked in, it wont stall, just kinda let it sip... but yeah, it should smoke like hell

i agree. i usually turn the vacuum hose (well, i use the brake booster line) upside down and pour it in to control the rate. if it starts sputtering/stalling or w/e you can just put your thumb over the hose and it'll usually even the engine out.

maxhopper, hey it looks like its not leaking from that part but the one that is actually connected to the motor. How much bolts is there supposed to be because i only see one on the left and the right side looks like a hole where a bolt is missing, lol.

I'd have to check a service manual to see how many bolts are supposed to be there. Off hand I would say between 6 and 8 per exhaust manifold. When they get old, they have a tendency to break off. If it's not a bad exhaust leak I probably wouldn't mess with it. If the manifold bolts did break off, the old ones would have to be drilled and tapped; then new bolts installed.

At least a few hundred dollars. I would find a reputable shop in Yakima, and see what they say. Steer clear of Walt's and Bucky's... both are way overpriced, at least here in Olympia they are.
