(Can't think of a very good title for this)

My '92 SE-R has me stumped. The car is a sputtering mess. What happens is the car will fire right up, settle into an idle, then after a minute or so start sputtering around and will try to die, but then catch it's breath and then repeat the process, eventually dying. Applying some throttle to keep the revs up seems to help but the RPM's tend to waiver a bit, then it'll die.

-The engine is a JDM sr20de. Only mod to it is a K&N FIPK.

-Both the fuel pump and fuel filter are brand new and the lines look good. There appear to be no shorts in the wiring to the fuel pump relay or whatever you want to call it.

Any ideas?

P.S. I'm writing this after a day and a half of troubleshooting so I'm kinda beat. If any of this doesn't make sense, I apologize in advance!

Did you just put the new fuel pump and filter in the car? If so, make sure the lines are switched. Have you checked the maf? Need to check its voltages. But from what you are explaining, it sounds like a fuel problem.

I have to agree with 'nametakennow' about the coolant temp sensor. I have a 95 SE-R that did the same damn thing about 2 years ago. I put in a new fuel filter, pump, and new lines and the car still did the spitting and sputtering. I finally took it to a friend of mine who only works on imports and he recommended changing the coolant temp sensor. Sure enough, the day after I replaced it she ran beautifully. Good luck!
