Hey guys I've been searching around on the net looking for the paint color of OEM SE-R wheels. I have a set purchased with some slight curb rash and need some paint to finish them off. I have heard some shops calling it Nissan titanium but am not positive that's right. As far as the wheel condition is they look like this:

BTW the tires are shot so they will be removed to make the process easier.
If any of you guys have experience with refinishing wheels let me know. I saw on a bimmer forum some nasty curbed rims that a guy used paint thinner to clean area, then bondo to fill and sand! Sand! Sand!

I never went and fully renfinished them. Most of the wheels I touched up the scratches with the brush and paint making them less noticeable.

I really am thinking about making a build thread now that I have a good list of mods. The pics are all saved. I just didn't know if it was worthwhile since the. 3rd gen section seems to be quite dead.

I got lazy and didn't feel like redoing them. Just touched up the curbed areas with the touch up paint. I may just replace one. But at $250 for all 4 rims I can't complain. :)

I know i'm jumping in late to these forums - but I just posted on the Facebook group page so I figured i'd contribute here as well.

I curbed one of my OEM 18'' forged steels pretty high to the surface of the rim, and contacted a franchise owner of Kwicksilver - http://www.kwickrims.com/ was the guy I used locally. Price was very reasonable for the work to be done, and the refinishing and paint match came out awesome. I'd highly recommend these guys - they came directly to my house, did all the repairs on-site, and was completed within a few hours.

Welcome to NICO Chris! Funny thingI was actually gonna update this thread with some of the info you posted on Facebook. You beat me to it. Hang around here, its not super active but it has 6 members who post regularly. I am Justin Funck and posted on your pics on Facebook. They really did an awesome job on the wheel. :)

I reached out to the guy who repaired it asking for the color code, and he responded with: "Unfortunately, there isn't a paint code for the color on your wheels. That's pretty common, most wheel manufacturers consider the colors to be trade secrets. I did a custom match for you on yours to get the color you see there." So, I guess this confirms that it's a mystery and will remain that way. Custom match is the only way to go.

And Justin - thanks for the welcome. I've had my SE-R for several years now, but have done absolutely 0 mods to it aside from audio upgrades. Frankly, I'm mechanically retarded and travel for business a lot - so the SE-R sits at airports a lot and I have little time to do the actual work myself. Gets expensive everytime I take it to a shop to have work done...

I also have the type of curb rash on my wheels, and i also have a dark stain of brake dust and on a wheel i had ordered of of LKQ.(I was missing a wheel...potholes) and i would like to refinished them myself. Has anyone does a DIY on it yet? I know that there are some boston area places that will do it but I think i could just sand them and use a wheel paint to finish myself. any ideas?

If you've got the garage and time to do it right, i'd say give it a shot - you can always call them if you screw it up. I just wasn't comfortable doing this on my own, especially without knowing the color code - you know?

I know that you're probably not close to my area (Metro Detroit), but I have used a local shop call Restock Wheels http://restockwheels.com/. They were able to match finish color exactly. I've recently replaced the OE forged wheel with G35 rims that I had powdercoated anthracite. The color matched the center caps and foglight housings exactly. If you notice the OE rim and the center cap are actually different colors.

Man I really like that anthracite color. Would definitely look good on a sheer silver as well.
