The 2005 and up frontier is available with the 2.5 with a 5 speed manual transmission, I would look into the frontier variant of the 2.5. Since it is already in a rwd vehicle it would be alot easier to mount up.

Probably custom. I doubt you want to go down this path unless you're good at fabricating stuff.

I'm a decent fabricator so I would have to do an adaptor and motor mounts?

you will have firewall clearance issues. it'll be less headache inducing to just throw a t28 setup on a stock ka.

Well it sounds like KA720 has a good question, mine is a 2.5 out of a spec is front wheel drive so it sounds like alotta work, possible with money, but why not a 4.0 out of a frontier, still alotta fab work, but da**.

it would probably be easier to do a rwd conversion on a spec-v, then a QR swap in your 240.

but, i personally think they are both bad ideas. the time/money/effort it would take to do something like that could be put to much better use

you can also find low mileage SR20VE's and they are much easier to swap into an S-chassis. You'll still need adapters and whatnot but at least that one has been done before.

OP, you'd be better off swapping in a Maxima VQ30DE, IMO. At least you'd get a lightweight 3.0L V6 motor with the option to use the 350Z's transmission...

Now that would be an upgrade, if you're detemined to go through the trouble of converting a FWD motor.

Stupid question but would a 350z transmission mount to a VQ30?

Why not just save up for a RB? With all the time and money spend on this, might as well go RB25 or just get LS1.

I am planning on doing the rb20.

I was just thinking about doing something different and i like the spec v my bud has a 12 second sentra with minimal modifacation but from what I can see its not worth it

I was thinking if you took off the FWD transmission you could just put a RWD on but I'm still not sure about that.

This is about the best advice given thus far. The time and money you will spend fabricating a FWD engine into a RWD car its better to just go RB, 2Jz, or LS1. either way your spending at least 6K all said and done i would imagine.

couple of nissan QR25DE's pull a premium a week before racewars tho. time your swap wisely.

that being said... yeah... it doesnt always pay to be different.

and just cus its a nissan doesnt mean stuff magically bolts up.

The interesting this is the QR25DE bolts right up to the KA 5 speed transmission. It has been done before a few times, the 510 guys are doing it.

I am trying to get a local friend to do it. The intake inlet is an issue, but can be worked around. But out of the box they are great engines depending on the year and trim they offer a solid 175-185 HP/TQ and are very boost friendly.
