I know you guys suggested the sds em-4f, and i was just wondering is there a big difference between that one and the em-4d, i was wondering if i could get by with using the d rather than the f

The answer is no! The F system is for distributorless ignitions like ours and the D is for distributor operated systems.

Cheaper than SDS? Hmmm, you may be able to find a used one or even find someone selling a haltech. But with the haltech, you will need a laptop and that's gonna cost you more if you don't have one already. Microtech have a decent system, but it too costs over a grand and I personally don't care for it's programmer; however, you can use a laptop with it as well. Basically, if you're looking to go standalone, be prepared to spend some cheddar. Standalones are what they are at their prices for a reason; kinda like college in the fact that you must pay for a higher education. And in this case, the flexibility of a standalone will cost you a chunk as opposed to chips and stock set-ups.

Its not called Simple Digital Systems for nothing

The lack of a laptop input is not my cup of tea. or the fact that with distriubotorless 6 cylinders, you can't do more than 9999 RPMs (4cyl is ok upto 15,000)
