whats wrong with the SD25, that is the deisel motor right? i think i would rather rebuild that then mess with swapping in a gas burner.

yeah. It's supposed to work. according to the workshop manual, the J16, L18, Z22, SD23 are all used on the same gearbox outside the US. i have not seen any difference in the 23 and the 25 so you should not have a problem.
