I recently purchased a new camera and with it came a 4GB Transcend sd memory card. When I hook up the camera it will get the pictures from the card, but I cant delete pictures from it that way. When I put it directly into the memory card slot in my laptop the blue light indicating that there is a card present will blink but the card will never show up under my computer and I won't get a notification asking me what I want to do with it. Can anyone tell me if I am doing something wrong here or how to fix it? Thanks a lot.

Have you ever put any cards into that slot before?

Yes, I have used a few other sd cards with it. This is the first time I am having a problem with it.

Might have a driver issue or the drive is bad. Try to update all of your drivers.

Here is a good site to just scan and see where your drivers are http://www.Driveragent.com

SWAGs:

1. Is it possible that the SD reader in your computer is an older one that cannot read the higher capacity SD cards available today?

2. Maybe you need updated drivers from the SD reader vendor ...

Keep in mind that there are two separate standards for 2GB+ SD cards. There's the original SD, then there's the new high capacity SDHC. If you try to use an SDHC card in a device that only supports HD, it won't work properly (or at all, most likely). That may be the issue with your PC reader...the reader probably knows there's SOMETHING there, but can't read it because of the different standards.

Does your card look like this:

or this?

It is the sdhc. I checked the driver and it could use an update. would that fix the problem of not reading the high capacity card? I have found a couple drivers to download, but im not sure which one, and im afraid of downloading something bad on accident.
