Taking the NICOtots to SeaWorld and the beach this month...

1) Any deals available on SW tickets?

2) Anyone have a hookup on a hotel near / on a beach?

3) Best beach nearby?

I'll check on any options for SW tickets and let you know if I find anything.Typically, Summer in SD is trap time for the tourist. Sea World is my favorite attraction, the shows are always great.

Hotels are going to rape you this time of the year. Possibly staying 15 or so miles to the east (El Cajon) will offer some relief. If you do, it's better not commuting during the morning or evening rush hour - but heck, it's still light at 8:30pm and it gets light at about 5:45 now.

Best beach, (if you have kids with you) La Jolla Shores, by far. Beautiful, clean, perfect beach. Get there early if you are going on a weekend becasue parking can be a problem after 9 AM (weekends) or 10 AM summer days. However, this is a problem at ANY beach.

Bikini watching...Assuming the kids are elsewhere. The boardwalk in Mission Beach, or the walk in Pacific beach will knock your socks off. Rent a bike and try to concentrate on riding it...impossible

That's very uncrowded though, times that by 10.

Other things they may enjoy. The tidepools at Point Loma (end of the peninsula) - at low tide obviously. Great learning experience.

The Midway - Retired Aircraft carrier and museum.

Balboa Park Auto and Aerospace museum. (usually free Tuesdays)

San Diego Zoo (take the bus ride)

San Diego Wild Animal park - again, take the ride.

same link as above...

Old Town San Diego. Good Mexican food (used to be anyway)

Scripps Aquarium. (excellent - probably a must see for the kids)

If you're planning on starting your beach day after noon, drive up the coast 15 minutes or so and you'll find a few dozen less crowded beaches with lifeguards.

Note: The San Diego City council has banned all alcohol on San Diego beachs due to a riot last Labor Day. Do NOT take beer to the beach (I know, that sucks) You can get all the beer you want at the seaside bars though. Just can't have it on the sand.

Got the SW tix nailed down... Thanks adidas2go!!!!

Bobby, thanks for the info!

When you say "drive N 15 mins or so", which areas are you thinking?

I want to stay away from Mission Beach (last 2 times there it was nasty)... Just want a nice clean beach where the kids can swim / play in the sand, and me and the GF can relax, maybe take a stroll.

Thinking of staying further N, maybe California Suites Hotel?

Sweet! You'll have to let me know what Blake was able to get you. I searched around the net and my University discount was the only decent thing I could find.

Sweet, you'll be in MY neighborhood (seriously, I live 5 minutes from SW).

rn79 nailed it with what to do here in SD.

If I could suggest/recommend anything, it would be to check out Coronado. There are nice beaches with lots of sand and plenty of room to relax, plus I think parking is easier than La Jolla.

Also, there's Legoland up the freeway about 30 minutes from SW. It's about 5-10 minutes of surface street driving from some nice beaches too. There is also this deal http://commerce.4adventure.com....aspx

A few questions:What prices are you looking for in hotels? How far away from everything do you want to be? How Many nights?
