Yeah, so, my car needs timed and a few things tightened down (oil pressure switch and power steering)...and I'm thinkin it ain't a insanely hard job...so I take it to a place which shall remain nameless...and this was sort of a unseen-problem, but the guy who put my car together didn't put a boot over the alternator. So ol' boy who was tightened the oil pressure switch accidentally touched the alternator and blew a fuse...And then my gauges started going hay-wire. Only my speedometer and odometer/trip have worked since i got the car, but now the speedometer needle is goin wacko like Jacko, and the trip/odometer is rollin on miles...WHILE IDLING! The guys at the shop were stumped and said they had never seen anything like it. Well, as I was driving home, the gauges behaved, and the speedometer seemed to read speed correctly...

Then, when I went to get gas, I noticed the seat belts weren't moving, and the domelight wouldn't come on. So I f-ed around with the battery cord, which was a little loose, and got things to work. But by dark, my car was receiving no power--EXCEPT to crank up. That's the crazy part-it starts and runs, just no electrical work...and we found that the wiring is just cut and spliced and ghetto-fied, and the install of the motor was actually done pretty minimally.

Oh, and another great thing...I failed emissions! 3X the legal amount of NOx...the guy said it's the catalytic converter (brand-new) or the EGR valve...

I'm happy to have my car, but damn...I can't even drive it today cuz it's at my friends (I coudln't drive home at night w/out lights)

Happy birthday to me...:( But I know when I get all this fixed, it will be a great car!

August is a great month. 26th for me:)I'm getting old...I'll be 19 in a few weeks.

You'll get the car fixed, Brit. And it'll make you just as happy as it did when you first got it.

Yeah we checkedall the fuses we could find...a lot of messy wiring...exposed copper and messy electrical taping...and you should have seen how the thing was grounded...

Chill out. It's you main fuse. It's located on the right side of the engine bay in the little relay and fuse box. It's a big grey fuse, with a clear top. It's closer to the front. Look inside and you will see that it blown. I would get one from a junk yard or someone parting out a S13.

Got it from Nissan for 5 bucks :D

My friend is taking care of it. he is also trying to seal up the gaping hole beneath the intake/above the tire so water won't splash up into it.

Only thing I am worried about now is passing emissions...

Glad you got the electric straightened out. That is one thing I would hate to have to deal with.....

About emmisions, reve the car alot to heat up the cat, Buy that junk at Discount that they make specifically for emmisions, and maybe do a little ghetto tune up... Just a suggestion, since they dont have emmisions down here anymore.

Wow, glad to hear that eletrical problem got fixed. Yea and you def. dont want water splashign into your intake thats bad news.

and as 180crafter said jsut do a weak little tune up and you should do fine for emissions

I got 7 days to pass, I might just go the illegal route...I don't know. I think I have an exhaust leak now, but I'm thinkin (& hopin) it's just a gasket cuz it's a brand-new exhaust.

i doubt you got a leak already. however my moms gone thru 2 exhasuts in 1 year due to leaks. the cat-converter supposedly was the reason, it was shot and there were HUGE gaping holes in the muffler
