its a NGK BKR7E. came from the #1 cylinder and was the only one that looked like that. i had just replaced my igniter chip (this is a black top sr20det btw) with a q45 igniter. this is also the first start up after the motor swap. i went to crank the car and shot a flame out of the turbo elbow and then it would crank for a few seconds then quit cranking then start back up again. my buddy said it stopped cranking due to it being flooded which makes sense because the plugs were soaked with gas. also my girlfriend saw smoke coming from the distribution block which didn't happen till after the igniter swap. any ideas on any of this would be great.

is it melted or just a black mark...look up inside the boot and see if there is a split in it

sorry, i should have specified in the first post. the black marks you see are where the plug split. the black is just from my hands because they were a little greasy from something i was messing with before. the boots and coil packs were all replaced right before i got the motor.

Could've been over-tightened. Was the ignitor wired in correctly? Not an arc, bc there would've been a burn mark. Might also be a manufacturing defect or damage from transit after it left the factory. Might have been a small, unnoticeable fracture in the insulator and as soon as voltage was applied, it popped. Try another plug after double checking your ignitor wiring.
