screeching during braking

While I was driving I noticed a screeching sound while I was breaking. But it only when I press on the brake lightly, it goes away if I press harder. It also sounds like its coming from the driver front side. Since I just started driving I dont know much about cars.

Pull the wheel off and check it out! Could be a number of things.
