I have a 1990 2+0 n/a and somthing in the rear is screaming, when i am moving i hear it inside the car and it sounds like a wheel bearing, but when i jack it up it is on both sides, so maybe it has somthing to do with the differential? internaly? another thing i though it might be the central bearing, if im not mistaking that is the bearing right between the driveshaft end and the differential? any thoughts thanks

There is no bearing between the driveshaft and the differential. There is a carrier bearing about midway on the driveshaft. Differential bearings are internal to the differential. A Q-45 (97-01) has the same dif as a NA-Z (R200V). You will only need to move over the input shaft and the rear cover. I did this on mine and it worked well...

When you are jacking it up and listening for the noise are you spinning the wheels yourself or do you have the engine running and spinning the wheels? Do you hear it from the center rear? Or is it more central underneath the passenger seats?

the car is off and i am spinning the wheel if the car is on i can not hear as well because exhausts is to loud but it sounds like it is coming from the diff. and you said you replaced the diff or replaced the bearings in the rear? thanks

I replaced the entire dif. It's not hard to do. The nice thing about the R200V dif is that the input shaft does not have anything to do with preload. So, it can be removed and re-installed, only needs the nut torqued to spec. The rear casing holds the antilock sensors, so swapping that on allows the rear end to be identical to an NA Z. The Q45 rears are more plentiful and cheaper. Mine was $125 w/80k miles and $50 for shipping. It took me an afternoon to rework and install. Not bad at all.

Look on this site http://car-part.com <=== online recycle yards.
