screaming is it a belt?

soo.... at around.. 3k-4k rpm... there's a scream.. in the engine bay... in 1st and 2nd gear.... like.. scream/screetching... is it a loose belt or something? (ac was off).... can someone help me out and tell me?.. and is this common?...

(91 240sx - 126xxx miles)

yeah more than likely. sounds like a loose belt

push down on them, if they can move more then like .5 inch, then its loose.
