the bottom of my navigation screen has a scratch on it. Is there any product or anything that I can use to remove the scratch? Its not a scratch like paint rubbed off on it, the actual screen is scratched. What can I do?

Also, I want to remove the front license plate, and I found some things online that you can use that cover up the screw holes. I can't remember where i found those at. Does anyone know where I can look?

Unfortunately there isn't really much of anything that fixes scratches in LCD screens very well. I saw a post on here a while back about some possible fixes which included trying a clean pencil eraser and gently rubbing it over the scratch or applying a thin film of petrolium jelly over the scratch which sort of hides it because the optical properties are similar. Personally I wouldn't mess with it because the chances of making it look worse are greater than actually fixing the problem. Sometimes you can pick up used LCD screens on Ebay. They are fairly easy to install.

As far as the holes from the font license plate bracket... I picked up some plastic "press" fasteners at Auto Zone that had a slightly larger diameter than the holes made by the screws. I painted the round heads of the fasteners the same color as the bumper and then simply pressed them in place. They held up pretty well and sort of look like the proximity sensors used on some cars.

You may want to try this:

I've used it on scratched headlights and iPods with success. Good luck!

So I, (of course) had PlastX in my detail cupboard in the garage, and on the back it says not to use it on LCD navigation screens so I didn't even want to risk it..

Do you guys have any tips on what I can use to clean the screen?

There is a thin piece of plastic covering the actual LCD screen itself. I'm assuming this would be ok to polish if unless it has some kind of anti-glare coating on it.

I got a bottle of PlastX in 1 hand and a micofiber cloth in the other... anyone ever use PlastX on their NAV screen before I go ahead and do this and ruin my entire car? :bigthumb:

I tried PlastX because I have the same exact problem as you and it didn't make a difference. I started with just a small corner of a microfiber towel and a small area of the scratch, but then got more aggressive once I knew it wasn't scratching up the rest of the screen, but it made no difference.

I also tried the pencil eraser tip and the petroleum jelly trick as well...no dice. Prolly only option is to change out the screen if you ever see one cheap on Fleabay. I decided at that point not to mess with it any more. Only really noticeable when the screen is off.

good luck,

Craig
