I recently bought this kit to get some of the oxidation and film off my headlights and I ended up totally ruining the glass. It came with these sanding pads and required that you use them in sequence according to the grit of the paper. When I was done with one light it ended up looking as if I actually sanded it down.

Horrible.

Is there a clear coat or anything I can put over it to look like new?

Most kits work well when done right. Without seeing pics or knowing what you used its hard to give you a good place to proceed from where you are at.

If the headlights are bad you will most likely need to use a machine to clean them up. Using the hand power only goes so far. A drill or my favorite, high speed buffer works great with the right pads and compound. To keep them nice you can use a headlight protection film.

Try Meguires plastix polish for clear plastic. Might have sanded too much to repair.
