ok so as some may no im doing a headgasket, well idk how i had over looked it but my one cylinder wall was scored, and a friend pointed out today that another was, and that they are kinda bad, they arent wide just one vry slim line.

anyways im rly confused about what to do

my friends are telling me to get a hone.

but what else will i end up having to buy?

obviously rings, avg price on those?

and would i need new rod and main bearings?

and all the main bolts and rod bolts can be reused right?

so basically i am just looking to see what itll cost to get a hone after i have to pay for all the other ****

I replaced all my bearings just cause I don't want to take it apart again for any reason, but I reused all the main and rod bolts.

I used the rings that came w/ my aftermarket pistons, but you should be able to get stock / stock replacement rings from someplace and use those on the stock pistons. bearings aren't too much so if you can afford em change em, otherwise if they are ok don't bother changing them.. if you take the crank out you'll have ot take the oil pump off and the rear seal thing and those both have associated gaskets you'd need to replace..

If it wasn't shooting oil into your combuston chamber and/or had low compression, I wouldn't lose heavy sleep over it. A light hone job can be done by a simple mechanic just as yourself, unless you just want to tear it apart and go for the full rebuild. If you replace the rings, you're going to need the cylinders honed a bit to ruff up the cylinder walls as part of the equation to make sure that the rings have all the necessities to get a good seat.

And don't confuse honing with boring because they are different processes. The stock CA block can't take a bit of honing for even deep grooves and still have enough cylinder wall left to accept standard rings and pistons. Be sure and contact me before you make a decision as to what you want to do.

Rod bolts? The CAs rod bolts don't stretch so easily, so unless you severely overheated the engine via oil starvation, don't fix what's not broken or you'll be throwing away senseless money.
