Yet another reason (besides the poor lighting, bad store layout and inept employees) to shop at Lowe's.

Home Depot actually used to be a decent place shop with a good company culture until Frank Blake as their CEO a few years back.

Good for Powell. Glad to see he finally got what's coming to him. Somedays I really detest corporate America. :tisk:

mom and pop hardware stores > all.

I'll pay a little more to know a place isn't run by lawyers and idiots.

one I go to occasionally also sells guns. It's where I got my XD45 for a very nice price :)

I've found ace hardware to be a great place. They might not have an entire lumber selection of crap like that but the service is friendly and they have a massive bolt selection.

Too bad I have no choice but to use home Despot. My work only has cards for them and no one thought to build a Lowes anywhere nearby in No. Virginia..

I really hate how people who work there only know stock and nothing about the trade. Fu*k that, dude. They also half-as$ the stock, too... sometimes I go and they will sell (for example) a crimper but no ends, and a nail gun but not the right kind of nails to load it with. Monkeys could run that company better.

Ace is by far the best chain hardware store.

i prefer hd over lowes. i only speak to employees when i pay for my stuff. i don't even ask for help finding stuff, they're all idiots. lowes, however, tends to hire hot chicks.

The Ace near me tends to hire mostly high school students. Fortunately it's laid out well enough that you don't need to ask them for any help.
The Home Depot is staffed by morons and laid out like a casino.
The Lowes tends to have more helpful employees and the layout's not quite as bad.

You just like HD because they let you hang out outside at 6am waiting for work.

I have a wonderful old fashioned family owned hardware store one block from my home. Been buying stuff from them for years. I also dislike those big box joints like Lowes or HD.

Ace > all.

The one near us is staffed by a bunch of octogenarians who've built damn near everything... Cool guys in there.

The fastener section alone is worth going to Ace.
