they shouldn't have speed limits for our cars, because we all care about our cars, and would know better than to jack it up. we can speed, come on. i'm speaking for the majority of 240 owners. i can't say that for all, because man, OHH man, let me tell you this....i was in stillwater, OK, for the OSU vs. texas a&m game saturday, and i wish i had a camera! there was a 240 with apc stickers all over, very poorly tinted windows(they weren't even cut to the shape of the window), shiity hubcaps, neon lights i bet, and racing stripes. how could you do this to a 240? i bet that's as bad as a riced out car could get.

Speed limits suck. I think they're more of a guideline than a hard and fast rule. I mean, 25mph on the off-ramp? For what, a '76 Caddy with whitewalls? Damn sure not a lowered 240.

i think speedlimits are only there to be broken, for us to get caught, and for us to have to pay a fine. its all a fishous cycle. all that happens, just so the state gov't and all that can get money. i mean seriously, even cops speed all the time. except they refrain from giving themselves tickets.

speed limits are a set of guidlines for non-skilled drivers to follow. Whatever the speedlimit is you can safely go 35mph+ over it. but then again i am a teenager and that is my job :)

I agree, if the car can handle well and be able to safely go over the speed limit, then we should be able to do it. and cops are the meanest bastards there are. they do speed all the time and when they see a bunch of people around them, they go the speed limit or slower just to mess around with people. i was driving once and i was trying to get over and this cop was driving next to me and i know he was going slow so i couldnt get over. aaahhhh, i hate pigs!!!

You're not going to get too much intellectual information on breaking speed limits, especially not for a college course. You should do something else, maybe how the rest of the countries dislike the US and one small way to get at us is through holding back products from us. If you think about it, everything that comes out in Japan/the east, and Europe either fails to come to the US, or comes very late. You have video games systems and cars that don't come out. There is also cell phone technology that we don't have that other countries have had for a while....but mostly its products themselves. Cell phones, ect. But you can factor cars into it, ect.

But as far as swaps and importation go, I hate how the gov't is. In Japan they have strict emmissions, and their safety standards can't really be all that much lower than ours. I don't have specific facts, but for a lot of cars (especially ones produced for the US that are "stripped" for technology ect.).
