Scheduled 2 Maintenance & Fuel Pump, Steering Column Electrical Motor

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hello EX35ers:

I only drive about 3000 miles a year. It seems overkill to complete all the maintenance items, but I want to keep the warranty intact. I am now at the 18 month mark. I will change the oil and filter. The Scheduled 2 Maintenance also requires tire rotation. The Explanation of Scheduled Maintenance Items says "tires should be rotated every 7,500 miles." Do I need to rotate as the tires were rotated 6 months (1500 miles) ago?

I need to bring the car in for inspection/replacement of the fuel pump and replace the Steering Column Electrical Tilt Motor pursuant to the Infiniti Owner Notification. Has anyone had a problem when these were serviced?

Thanks.

I was in a similar situation with the tire rotation, and wasn't sure what to do, but I figured that the mileage is the main thing that matters with tires, not time (unless it's an extremely old tire that should be replaced). So I'm going with every 7500 miles (or maybe every 6000 or so), regardless of time.

My Infiniti dealer wanted around $100 though to rotate my tires, which seemed kinda crazy so I'm going to get it done somewhere else. What price do you guys think is reasonable for tire rotation?

Regarding the fuel pump, I had mine replaced a while ago, so when I brought it in for the notification they supposedly inspected it and said I had the latest part so it didn't need to be replaced again. A lot of people here have had it replaced with no problem; you should have around 1/4 tank of gas when you bring it in though to reduce the chance of fuel spillage.

For the steering column, I haven't noticed any symptoms, but when I brought it in they said they're replacing them all anyway; my dealer didn't have the part though, so I'm waiting for it to come in.

sg77, thanks for the reply. The dealer quoted $35, which sounds reasonable. I don't know the market price, but its better than $100. However, I agree with you that every 6000 to 7500 miles is more appropriate. I should call corporate to check. Rotating the tires 4 times every 2 years when its only necessary one time is a waste of money. But I don't want to have a warranty problem.

i've had the fuel pump replaced and the steering column motor replaced. And sadly I have to say I think the steering motor (they call it a worm screw) is about to go out again....it is making less than polite grinding noises. I think this is why they extended the warranty to 7 years on this.....design flaw.
